Melanie Egas

LAW CLERK

Melanie Egas supports the Litigation practice at Murphy Schiller & Wilkes LLP, focusing on commercial real estate–related disputes. Drawing on a strong background in trial preparation, motion practice, and complex legal research, she assists the firm’s attorneys with drafting pleadings, dispositive motions, and client memoranda, as well as managing discovery and preparing for hearings.

Before joining the firm, Melanie gained invaluable experience as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Mitzy Galis-Menendez on the Hudson County Superior Court. Prior to that role, she gained wide-ranging experience in both the public and private sectors. She served as a Student Attorney in Seton Hall Law School’s Immigrant & Human Rights Clinic, a Summer Associate at a regional Am Law 200 firm, and a Legal Intern in the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Melanie earned her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law, where she was a Legal Education Opportunity Fellow, Vice President of Finance for MetroLALSA, and President of the Criminal Law Society. She holds a B.A., cum laude, in Political Science with a minor in Criminal Justice from Rutgers University–Newark, and was inducted into Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society.
